When you hear them perform, right from the primal crunchy grooves of ‘Come Of Over’ to riff-heavy ‘Out Of The Black’ and stomping second single ‘Little Monster’, it’s hard to understand how such a ferocious sound comes from such a minimal line-up. Needless to say we were left speechless after this gig, and no doubt you will be too. Royal Blood perform at The Oxford Art Factory, in Sydney, Australia, on June 4, 2014.

Running red hot on the heels of their fourth album 'Temper Temper', Bullet For My Valentine rolled into Birmingham's O2 Academy like a tank, armed with burning anthems like 'Your Betrayal', 'Tears Don't Fall' and 'Waking The Demon' alongside newer cuts 'Temper Temper' and 'Riot'. With big ambitions and bigger riffs, the band have always had world domination fairly in their sights, but they've never been more on target than now. With album sales over four million and a monster legion of fans, the lads have rightly earned the tag of "the best British metal band to emerge in years" (as Q Magazine dubbed them). We got the opportunity to attend one of the most anticipated metal gigs of the year so far. The lights went down and the mighty Opeth entered the stage with the crowd roaring for them. Opeth blew the roof off the Enmore in Sydney, playing as amazingly as they always do. After they were all plugged in they began playing one of their hit songs. Effortlessly the members of Opeth themselves were getting lost in the music and drawing you in with them into a tranced atmospheric dimension as lead vocalist and guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt’s voice carried through the venue.

  • The Ringmaster General

    Dave Stewart

    Year: 2012

    Runtime: 1 hr 19 min

Dave Stewart is best known as the other half of Annie Lennox's Eurythmics. At the onset of MTV and the video age, Stewart wasn't as photogenic as his artistic foil. He still knows this, so he enlists the help of Diane Birch, Alison Krauss and Joss Stone to give his music a recognizable voice. Stewart himself sings in a low rumble that's powerful but too dark for commercial outlets and this solo album is clearly meant to reach a wide audience. The production is top notch and played and arranged so tightly that you can hear why others have required his services for decades. Like its predecessor, 2011's The Blackbird Diaries, The Ringmaster General was written and recorded in five days at his Blackbird Studios in Nashville, with a solid band of pros backing his every step. Joss Stone tears up "I Got Love." Diane Birch toys with Stewart on "Just Another Fall" and Alison Krauss adds her solemn harmonies to "Drowning In the Blues." Stewart handles himself well alone on "A Different Man Now" and with a group of backing vocalists on his celebration of his new home, "A New Song For Nashville."

  • Live at the Enmore

    Gary Numan

    Year: 2011

    Runtime: 1 hr 51 min

For over 30 years, Gary Numan has moved effortlessly from one genre to another, all the while creating something instantly recognizable as his alone. In this spectacular concert we filmed in Sydney, he plays his entire 1979 album The Pleasure Principle, and it’s astonishing to remember that it was recorded with no guitars whatsoever. Today those same songs are delivered with a fierce determination, and it’s easy to see how the sheer symphonic power of those early chords lay the foundation for the industrial goth-metal of later songs like Jagged and Halo.
