  • On the Rock Trail

    Pink Floyd

    Year: 2015

    Runtime: 56 min

From their early beginnings in the affluent University City of Cambridge, Pink Floyd rose, Phoenix-like, to create music that was both challenging and unique. While London was swinging in the sixties, Pink Floyd went psychedelic, producing sound and light shows that captured the mood of the time. With the departure of founding member Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd’s 1970s reincarnation produced such classic albums as “Darkside of the Moon” and “Wish You Were Here” before “The Wall” took them storming into the 1980s. Yet troubles behind the scenes resulted in the loss of Roger Walters and after legal battles over the Pink Floyd name, the band was rose again to achieve even greater success. The story of Pink Floyd is one of the most fascinating in the history of Rock, and “On the Rock Trail” will leave no stone unturned in the search of the men behind one of the Rock’s biggest and most distinctive sounds. Presented by former artist manager from London’s famous Tin Pan Alley, Liam Dale, “On the Rock Trail” takes you on an informative (and at times humorous) journey behind the scenes of these icons of the music industry. This documentary contains no music from Pink Floyd and is not authorized by Pink Floyd or any of their affiliate entities.

  • The Story of The Rolling Stones

    The Rolling Stones

    Year: 2013

    Runtime: 53 min

The Rolling Stones are one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of our time having sold in excess of 200 million records worldwide. This fascinating programme tells the story of the early days of the band and how they became The Rolling Stones we know today. Jagger and Richards were childhood friends becoming reacquainted in 1960 at Dartford Railway Station due to their love of music. Later meeting Brian Jones who in 1962 went on to form The Rolling Stones. The story of the early Stones is very much a tale of how Brian Jones forged the band with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and became a key catalyst in the creation of their early sound. But whether it was the pressures of early fame or through his addiction to drugs his role in the band became untenable. Even though he is credited as originally forming the band he was eventually over shadowed by Jagger and Richard and his role gradually diminished until in June 1969 he was asked to leave. Less than a month later and under questionable circumstances he was found dead in his own swimming pool believed to have taken his own life. Using performance footage and rare interviews footage with Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and Bill Wyman as well as The Stones Manager (1962/67) Tony Calder and Brain Jones former partner Pat Andrews this in depth programme provides a fascinating insight into the original formation of this incredible super group during their first decade. The programme concludes at the staged event in Hype Park 5th July 1969 which became recognised as a memorial concert to Brian Jones. This DVD is a must for all music and Rolling Stones fans.

    Year: 1970

    Runtime: 1 hr 6 min

August, 1970: With Jim Morrison's ongoing Miami obscenity trial casting an ominous shadow over the band, The Doors flew to England to play the Isle of Wight Festival. Waiting for them at "The Last Great Festival" were over 600,000 fans who had already torn down the barriers, crashed the gates, and enjoyed performances by the world's top acts such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell. The Doors took the stage at 2 am, playing with the weight of the trial on their backs, and showed fans they still had the magic that had propelled them to the top during the Summer of Love. "We played with a controlled fury and Jim was in fine vocal form," said Doors organist Ray Manzarek. "He sang for all he was worth, but moved nary a muscle. Dionysus had been shackled." Less than a year later, The Doors were no more. Here, for the very first time, is the last Doors concert ever filmed. The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight.

In the early 1980’s, growing in a similar yet geographically separate way to the “grunge” movement in Seattle, was a new and lesser known genre of music known as “desert rock.” It was a catch-all style that ultimately evolved from jam-band generator parties that took place in remote desert locations outside of Palm Springs, CA. "Desert Age" traces the complete historical lineage of the people, places and bands that shaped that scene and genre to this day. The film is comprised of exclusive interviews, private photos and home videos that offer in-depth access to a scene that has remained insulated and undocumented until now.

    Led Zeppelin

    Year: 2015

    Runtime: 54 min

When glam-rock took over the 70s music scene, Led Zeppelin danced to their own tune. Turning out wilder, raunchier and more powerful sounds on Rock classics like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Whole Lotta Love”. With the dynamic vocals of Robert Plant, the mesmerizing guitar and bass of Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and the magnificent drumming of John Bonham, Led Zeppelin had a line-up that would rock on, or so it seemed, forever. But like so many rock legends, they found that there was a high price to pay for living life in the fast lane. When Bonham died tragically in 1980, Led Zeppelin was disbanded, as the remaining members hadn’t the heart to continue without the “Big Guy” on drums. The fact that more than 30 years down the line, the music of Led Zeppelin lives on, is a testament to the power of their music. Presented by former artist manager from London’s famous Tin Pan Alley, Liam Dale, “On the Rock Trail” takes you on an informative (and at times humorous) journey behind the scenes of these icons of the music industry.
