  • Band in Seattle: Live Debut - Concert 107 A

    Cracker Factory

    Year: 2013

    Runtime: 40 min

Many years ago, before the iPod and the topless espresso stand, three young men came together in a sonic experiment that would unlock the sacred mysteries of the planet and lay them bare upon the table. You can call the men of Cracker Factory a lot of things. Call them miscreants, heathen sorcerers, or scoundrels of the merriest variety. Just don't try to compare them to any band in existence. R.L. Heyer (lead guitar and vocals), Shane Smith (bass and backing vocals) and Denali Williams (drums) mingled their musical ministrations for the first time in a dusty bar in Cheney, WA and the rest is sweet history. There is not enough space here to tell all, but suffice it to say that R.L. is one of the most incredible guitar players you will ever hear, and the music of Cracker Factory will bring hours of joy to anyone who listens. .

    Jupe Jupe

    Year: 2016

My Young creates a characterization of himself in every performance. He and his band mates make up a quartet of cerebral musicians whose sound is self-described as “mournful dance, new wave music”. Young’s rich vocals are suggestive of a Depeche Mode sound, but then it stands on a foundation of heavy synth, rough guitar, and pounding drum lines. Coupled with Young’s pointed lyrics, Jupe Jupe has discovered a whole new sound for their Pacific Northwest audience.

  • Freestyle: The Art of the Rhyme

    Various Artists

    Year: 2000

    Runtime: 1 hr 11 min

Over 15 years in the making, the world of improvisational rap, is explosively explored in this award wining and critically acclaimed authentic look into the life, music and history of 1990's underground hip hop culture! Packed with rare and archival footage of some of the most amazing MC's ever to bless the mic, the film features the story of MC Supernatural and his quest to become a champion, battling many in his way including his arch nemesis Craig G of the famed Marley Marl Juice Crew. Made by a grass roots co-operative of independent local community filmmakers, b-boys, DJ's, and MC's, this documentary takes us on a journey through the previously unexamined dimensions of hip hop as a spiritual and community based art form. Combining the best of independent art house cinema within the hip hop mix tape format, the film features legendary battles from New York to LA, including The Lyricist Lounge, Project Blowed, and The Wake Up Show! The artists featured in the film, from Mos Def to Notorious BIG provide insight into one of the least seen faces present in the music: improvisation and creativity. Structured with insights from the Last Poet's esteemed Abioudun Oyweole and jazz & rap historians Freestyle connects the dots from the pain and love of yesterday's poets to today's hip-hop innovators. Revealing the art forms stunningly emotional outlet; whether sharing energy in a street corner cipher for block cred or a stadium's commercial rap performance full of 1,000s of paying fans. Like the Griots of Africa or the wail of Coltrane's saxophone, today's hip-hop MCs all have a similar purpose: to share their experience with others hungry for truth, community and healing.

  • Band In Seattle - Jessica Lynne Concert 223

    Jessica Lynne

    Year: 2016

    Runtime: 40 min

Sometimes authentic country music artists do not grow up in what we would consider hotbeds of country music. Sometimes they grow up in Haslev, Denmark, the native town of current Seattle resident, Jessica Lynne, a sensational and rising country star and one of London Tone Music’s most successful artists. She explains how it all started: “When I was 12, I was home with the flu and our TV provider had a “chance channel” available for a limited time. Well, this time it was CMT and being at home with nothing to do and feeling really horrible, I just kind of left it on that channel and little by little just fell in love with the genre.” Faith Hill’s, Wild One, a song that was #1 at the time, inspired her immediately. “I felt like she was singing about me,” she remembers. “It touched my heart in a way that I had never felt before.”
