Umphrey's McGee

Year: 2015

Runtime: 02:30:25

Umphrey's McGee continue to defy convention with their ferocious live shows, never-ending catalogue, and innovative approach to all facets of the music industry. Those elements were on display when UM took the stage at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on July 3rd, 2015. Lauded as the one of finest concert venues in the world, UM didn’t squander the opportunity to deliver to the sold out crowd. The energy was palpable from the first note and heavy hitters like “Puppet String,”“Mulche’s Odyssey,”and “Rocker Part 2” kept it going all night. A near flawless rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” instantly became a UM fan favorite. UM is Musicianship for the Masses.

New Year’s Eve 2015 highlights that approach as the band performed three marathon sets at the famed Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO. UM’s New Year’s performances are synonymous with nonstop fun and this one was no different as the band was joined by longtime special guest horn section (Mad Dog and his Filthy Little Secret) throughout the night. With a mixture of old staples, multiple debuts, and classic covers, this performance is simply not to be missed. The set list goes on and on with highlights including “No Diablo,” “Women, Wine and Song,” “Bad Friday,” and the debut of R. Kelly’s “Ignition,” because hey, why not? Settle in and prepare yourself.

Umphrey's McGee continue to defy convention with their ferocious live shows, never-ending catalogue, and innovative approach to all facets of the music industry. That approach was clearly on display on January 1st, 2016 as the band limited capacity of the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO to an intimate group of super fans for a truly special evening. The band premiered an archival documentary film and followed it up with a Storytellers style performance. They took time in between tracks to dig deeply into the song writing and lyrical process, share stories of the tune’s origins and crack jokes in classic UM fashion. This is a rare, behind the curtain look at the true nature of the band to be equally enjoyed by the die-hard fan and newbie alike. UM is Musicianship for the Masses.

We thought it would be fun to revisit our record Last of The Outlaws one last time this time bringing in a full string section. These tracks were recorded live one day in October at the Castle Inn in Delaware Water Gap, PA.

The Castle Inn was built in 1906. It had a coal fired, electric generator that lit 1600 lights! It also supplied power for the entire town of Delaware Water Gap. Enrico Caruso sang there. John Phillip Sousa performed there. Boxer Gene Tunney trained for his fight against Jack Dempsey there. Big band leader Fred Waring bought it in the 1950's and based his publishing empire there.

So when we were given the opportunity to film Ben Harper accompanied by the blues-driven Texas trio Relentless7 at the Metro in Sydney, needless to say we were a little bit excited. And it may have been filmed in 2009, but this show was such a stand out favorite of ours there was no question that it was set to become one of our Classic Concerts someday.

    Year: 2011

    Runtime: 2 hr 1 min

On 11.11.2011 the North Mississippi Allstars delivered an amazing performance at the historic Bluebird Theater in Denver. “It’s very unusual for the best show of a tour to be captured and documented without distraction” said drummer Cody Dickinson, “this is a raw and real representation of our band hitting a stride and breaking the mold”. 11.11.11 highlights NMA's Americana roots while showcasing virtuoso performances on traditional and improvised instruments. “We anticipated 11.11.11 being a great night of music, we wanted to make it special” adds guitarist Luther Dickinson. The band delivers on its promise with eye popping guitar work from Luther (including a heavy dose of the fan favorite coffee-can guitar) and Cody going primal on the drums with wiffle ball bats. Bass player Chris Chew shows off his vocal talents on “I’d Love To Be A Hippy” and Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready". Interlaced between many songs are interview clips revealing an honest window into the band’s perspective on their music, their history, and where they are today.

    Runtime: 2 hr 27 min

From modest beginnings in a Buffalo basement over two decades ago to today’s multifaceted success, the members of moe. have never lost sight of the earnest, elemental goals that they aspired to from their very first show: to deliver honest, heartfelt music and to ensure the audience has a good time. Considerate and conscientious in their actions and decision-making, moe.’s refreshingly unpretentious attitude has won them a devoted legion of dedicated fans (ranging from seasoned concert-goers to eager young newcomers) and has given rise to a thriving cottage industry – a self-contained nation-state in which the band and their audience live as equals, thriving on a reciprocal appreciation rare in today’s increasingly fragmented musical landscape. 2010 marks the twentieth anniversary of moe.’s frontline of Rob Derhak (bass, vocals), Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals), and Al Schnier (guitar, keyboards, vocals), who continue to perform together with the addition of drummer Vinnie Amico and percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Jim Loughlin. Keeping a consistent lineup intact and productive over two decades is no small feat. moe.’s saga is made all the more remarkable because they have consistently done so on their own terms, as independent artists who actively manage their own affairs while staying well ahead of industry and technological developments, including successfully self-releasing their own music and offering instant on-site digital concert recordings at their shows.
