Edith Piaf is generally regarded as France's greatest ever popular singer and was the most popular French performer from the thirties right through to her early death in 1963. She has remained hugely influential ever since and this concert at Montreux in 2004 is a testament to her enduring popularity even 40 years after her death. Backed by a small jazz ensemble led by pianist Baptiste Trotignan, local stars Michael von der Heide, R gine and Catherine Ringer are joined by international artists Ute Lemper, Barbara Morrison and Ang lique Kidjo to pay homage to "The Little Sparrow" as Piaf was affectionately known.Added to My Q

The Candlelight Concerts: Live at Montreux
Year: 2013
Runtime: 1 hr 28 min
On Brian’s birthday, the Montreux Jazz Festival hosted the penultimate concert of Brian and Kerry’s Acoustic By Candlelight tour. It was their first appearance together at the festival. The show features a wide range of songs, from Queen classics like We Will Rock You, Love Of My Life and Crazy Little Thing Called Love to the Oscar-winning The Way We Were, as well as lesser-known gems like Dust In The Wind and Life Is Real, all of them performed beautifully by Brian and Kerry in stripped down arrangements which allow the songs shine through with unusual clarity and passion. Significantly, this was also the first live performance ever in Montreux of No-One But You, a song Brian was inspired to write in the city during the unveiling of the Freddie Mercury statue in 1996. This is Ellis and May live at their very best.Added to My Q

Supershow: The Last Great Jam of the '60s
Year: 1968
Runtime: 1 hr 11 min
In 1969 the cream of contemporary rock, blues, and jazz talent gathered in a disused linoleum factory to the west of London. Filmed over two days, they produced some magical collaborations, clearly inspired by the company they were all keeping. The list of featured artists is a who’s who of the period including Eric Clapton, Jon Hiseman’s Colosseum, Buddy Miles, Stephen Stills, Jack Bruce, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Modern Jazz Quartet, Buddy Guy, Roland Kirk Quartet and Glen Campbell, with a full supporting cast. The two day session was an opportunity for many of these musicians to play outside of their normal genre. Roland Kirk plays jazz with his quartet and then joins in with the rockers; the Modern Jazz Quartet give an interlude of ethereal calm before Buddy Guy, Jack Bruce, Buddy Miles and Dick Heckstall-Smith take liberties with "Mary Had A Little Lamb!"Added to My Q
