Travis Porter comes from Atlanta's swag rap scene, backed with a cresting national hit in "Make It Rain" and major buzz in the South. It's the result of four years of grinding, as well as a little bit of controversy. Strap, Quez and Ali met in high school, and launched Travis Porter in 2006. The group initially included Roscoe Dash (then known as ATL), and in 2009 it notched its first regional hit, "All the Way Turnt Up." However, Roscoe Dash split from the group and alleged that it stole the song from him; he later re-recorded "All the Way Turnt Up" with teen hero Soulja Boy Tell 'Em. Unfazed, Travis Porter continued to make strides, including an appearance on Killer Mike's Underground Atlanta compilation and the regional hit "Go Shorty Go," before "Make It Rain" helped them land a deal with Jive Records.
