Eternally topping the A-list of Jersey-bred pop-metal lady-killers, Bon Jovi dominated American life in the mid-'80s. Their third album, 1986's Slippery When Wet (original, tragically banned cover art = awesome), made them megastars, but they had already won over more than 50,000 pop Hessians with 1984's "Runaway," a melodramatic story-song made unforgettable by a killer chorus and Jon Bon Jovi's absolutely perfect hair in the video. A string of hits between 1986 and 1988 -- "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive," followed up by "Bad Medicine" and "Lay Your Hands on Me," from New Jersey -- defined the power ballad and resulted in a virtual Bon Jovi sleeper hold on the mainstream psyche. While the grunge explosion rendered them instantly obsolete, Bon Jovi continued to put out records amid side projects for both Jon and guitarist Richie Sambora. In 2000 they returned with Crush, an updated look (no hairspray) and a single that stands today as one of the best on their roster, the soaring "It's My Life." A creative resurgence has since resulted in steady releases, the most recent of which, Lost Highway, appeared in 2007.

Hammersmith Odeon London '75
Runtime: 2 hr 10 minThis is the stuff of legend. Born to Run had been released to unanimous acclaim. Bruce and band went to the U.K., where they were hyped as the band to see-and with the stakes so high, they didn’t back down. These are definitive performances. “Thunder Road” has never sounded more naked and vulnerable. “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” is clutch, a tight, affirmative performance that swings and punches with authority. “Spirit in the Night” slinks and unfolds like the New Jersey shoreline. The mix from Bob Clearmountain points up the band's incomparable chemistry, unlocking the magic and spotlighting the instruments while never sacrificing the wall of sound. By 1975, Springsteen had a complex web of songs with the most inventive structures imaginable. From the ethereal organ haunting the ghosts of “Lost in the Flood” or the simple piano accompaniment driving “For You” to the wistful memories of “Backstreets” and the urban sprawl of “Jungleland,” Bruce and The E Street Band were never more operatic or intense.
God Bless Ozzy Osbourne

These were the wild days of his prodigious drug and alcohol intake, of biting the head from a dove at a record company meeting and biting into a bat on stage but also of the tragic death of Randy Rhoads and the reality TV show The Osbournes. The film follows Ozzy’s torturous and emotionally fraught journey from excess to sobriety, which Ozzy regards as his greatest accomplishment. Featuring never before seen footage, new interviews with Ozzy himself, his brothers and sisters, his children, his bandmates in Black Sabbath and those who both inspired him and were inspired by him, this is the first film to take viewers inside the mind and psyche of this legendary figure.
