  • Live at Wembley

    Beyoncé

    Year: 2004

    Runtime: 2 hr 14 min

Beyonce's London fans go crazy when the Destiny's Child beauty, on her first solo international tour, descends to a massive stage while suspended, upside down, from a wire. After a delicate landing, the star embarks on a set of recent hits immersed in complicated arrangements, including the Arabic sound of "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl," the chunky, hypnotic funk of "Hip Hop Star," and Beyonce: Live at Wembley's best performance, the powerful "Work It Out," in which the diva is at her clearest, jazziest, and most soulful. Not everything works. The bottom falls out of "Gift from Virgo," "Be with You" is forgettable, and Beyonce's stage patter needs polish. But a Destiny's Child medley accompanied by only a DJ is innovative and fun, "Summertime" proves a breezy dance number, and "Crazy in Love" is bolstered by what sounds like the old Stax horns.

Without a doubt, this is the most anticipated album to hit the Latin marketplace in years. Twelve new recordings are available on this production and all songs were written by the band members themselves.
On this production, Mana has made sure they satisfy their diverse group of fans while not making much of a change to their formula and style of writing that has kept them the as the top Latin act over the past couple of decades. Mana deliver the raunchy, rock sound of their earlier days in songs like "Mi Reina De Dolor" and at the same time, deliver beautiful, heartfelt ballads such as "Vuela Libre Paloma" and "Amor Clandestino." Drama Y Luz will become another amazing collection for all Latin music fans as it delivers a production that took more than a year to create in recording studios throughout the world, and the end result is Mana at their best.

  • Queens of Pop

    Beyoncé

    Year: 2010

    Runtime: 27 min

In January 2011, ARTE viewers voted for the ‘Queens of Pop’. 8 pop queens were chosen from 50 proposals and these are presented in a 26-minute documentary: From the 1960s: Diana Ross. From the 1970s: Donna Summer and Debbie Harry. From the 1980s: Madonna. From the 1990s: Britney Spears and Mariah Carey. From 2000-2009: Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. The title of the programme, ‘Queens of Pop’, in itself shows where the emphasis lies – none of those simplistic chart rankings, but instead a documentary series that looks at our cultural history, dealing with the women who shaped popular music over the past fifty years.
