    The Doors

    Year: 2002

    Runtime: 2 hr 1 min

The Doors Soundstage Performances are a truly unique compilation of three completely different Doors performances at three distinct stages in their career. The concept of the Soundstage Performances laid the way to assemble all three appearances. The majority of the material has never been seen before. Not only is it rare, but it is startlingly great. Providing commentary are the two remaining Doors: John Densmore and Robby Krieger, plus the late Ray Manzarek. Even without an audience, The Doors mesmerize, playing for nothing but the cameras. Morrison delivers electrifying performances, whether reciting poetry in Denmark proceeding “Love Me Two Times” or getting it on during “The Soft Parade,” Jim Morrisons’ charisma, beauty, and brilliance shine during all. • Quadrophenia: Can You See The Real Me?

    The Who

    Year: 2012

    Runtime: 59 min

In his home studio and revisiting old haunts in Shepherds Bush and Battersea, Pete Townshend opens his heart and his personal archive to revisit the "last great album The Who ever made". An album that took the Who full circle back to their earliest mod days and the adventures of a pill-popping Mod on an epic journey of self-discovery. But in 1973 it was an album that almost never was. Beset by money problems, a studio in construction, heroin-taking managers, a lunatic drummer and a culture of really heavy drinking, Pete took on an album that nearly broke him and an album that within a year the band had turned their back on and would ignore for nearly three decades. With unseen archive and in depth interviews from Pete, Roger, Keith, John and those in the studio and behind the lens who made the album and thirty page photo booklet.

  • Feast of Friends

    The Doors

    Year: 2015

    Runtime: 39 min

Feast of Friends, filmed in 1968, was the first and only film produced about The Doors by The Doors. It offers a cinematic look at The Doors on the road during their summer ’68 tour. Whilst never truly completed, the film provides a stylistic approach in true sixties cinéma vérité style. Concert performances are intercut with fly-on-the-wall footage of the group in their natural habitat, sometimes playful, sensitive, chaotic and touching. Other than a few appearances in film festivals in 1968, an official release would never be seen until now. Completely restored from the original negative, as supervised by Jim Morrison, the film has been colour corrected and cleaned in high definition with the soundtrack totally remixed and remastered by long-time Doors’ collaborator Bruce Botnick.

There are interviews with both the old line up and the new and from departed members including Peter Green, John McVie and Eric Clapton as the film follows the first UK dates with the new format Bluesbreakers. The Godfather Of British Blues was made to celebrate John Mayall’s 70th birthday in autumn 2003 and was shown on BBC TV in conjunction with their broadcast of his 70th birthday concert. Fleetwood Mac

    Year: 1998

    Runtime: 60 min

Oh, the heartache. Oh, the drug intake. And oh, the sales records they did break. It's all here in this 70-minute, 1997 chronicle of the making of one of pop music's biggest albums ever, Rumours. All five members of Fleetwood Mac's most successful incarnation are interviewed, and their comments are even more candid than the confessional songs ("Dreams," "Go Your Own Way" et al.) on the album itself; descriptions of the torturous process of making a record while John and Christine McVie's marriage and the Lindsey Buckingham- Stevie Nicks liaison were breaking up at the same time makes for compelling, if slightly discomfiting, viewing. Meanwhile, lest one forget that Rumours was terrific as well as revealing, plenty of attention is paid to the songs. Particularly fascinating (as with most Classic Albums packages) are the breakdowns of the separate instrumental and vocal components of individual tracks. A great tale, wonderfully told.
