Live at the North Sea Jazz Festival

Steve Lukather & Edgar Winter Group

Year: 2000

Runtime: 01:06:23

It was the coming together of two musical giants, both with their unique style.
When these two extraordinary musicians, Steve Lukather and Edgar Winter, came together on stage at the North Sea Festival 2000, they had already achieved legendary careers in their own right.
Steve Lukather started as a studio musician before becoming a founding member of rocband 'Toto'. His guitar style and influence can be heard on numerous albums of notable artists such as Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Chicago. Having been influenced by Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, Steve developed a guitar style, which paid tribute to both Rock and Jazz styles, playing with such perfection and intensity that you can still spot his influence among a thousand other guitarists.
Edgar Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter. Having debuted at the Woodstock-Festival, he also fusioned Rock, Blues and Jazz since his first great successes in 1970. Working with musicians such as Rick Derringer, David Lee Roth and Ringo Starr, he was equally well prepared to team up with Steve Lukather.

    Year: 2013

    Runtime: 1 hr 28 min

On Brian’s birthday, the Montreux Jazz Festival hosted the penultimate concert of Brian and Kerry’s Acoustic By Candlelight tour. It was their first appearance together at the festival. The show features a wide range of songs, from Queen classics like We Will Rock You, Love Of My Life and Crazy Little Thing Called Love to the Oscar-winning The Way We Were, as well as lesser-known gems like Dust In The Wind and Life Is Real, all of them performed beautifully by Brian and Kerry in stripped down arrangements which allow the songs shine through with unusual clarity and passion. Significantly, this was also the first live performance ever in Montreux of No-One But You, a song Brian was inspired to write in the city during the unveiling of the Freddie Mercury statue in 1996. • The Battle of Mexico City

    Rage Against The Machine

    Year: 1999

    Runtime: 1 hr 35 min

Outside Mexico City's Sports Pavilion, hundreds of young Rage fans rattle metal fences and throw rocks at the increasingly nervous police. Inside, a seething crowd of 5,000 lucky ticket holders cram into the cavernous pavilion chanting anti-government slogans and poking their middle fingers into the thick, sweaty air while waiting for Rage Against the Machine to storm the stage.

One of the greatest live acts in music history, Rage only affirms that fact with this show. Whatever club, theater, arena, or stadium they're in, the opening of each Rage Against the Machine show always feels like a grenade has gone off. But this night it was as if a truckful of bombs blew up as the band tore into the opening salvo of "Testify." Fans cascaded toward the stage like rippling waves stopping only to pogo up-and-down like jackhammers.

Longtime supporters of various political causes in Mexico, Rage were performing for the very first time in Mexico City. The connection between the band and the audience is electric. From the early "all hell can't stop us now" chant in "Guerilla Radio" to the blood-curling screams in the finale of "Freedom," there is an urgency at this show that is unrivaled. This is live rock & roll as it's meant to be heard: fierce, funky, uncompromising. This is Rage Against the Machine in their finest hour.
