Live at the North Sea Jazz Festival

Steve Lukather & Edgar Winter Group

Year: 2000

Runtime: 01:06:23

It was the coming together of two musical giants, both with their unique style.
When these two extraordinary musicians, Steve Lukather and Edgar Winter, came together on stage at the North Sea Festival 2000, they had already achieved legendary careers in their own right.
Steve Lukather started as a studio musician before becoming a founding member of rocband 'Toto'. His guitar style and influence can be heard on numerous albums of notable artists such as Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Chicago. Having been influenced by Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, Steve developed a guitar style, which paid tribute to both Rock and Jazz styles, playing with such perfection and intensity that you can still spot his influence among a thousand other guitarists.
Edgar Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter. Having debuted at the Woodstock-Festival, he also fusioned Rock, Blues and Jazz since his first great successes in 1970. Working with musicians such as Rick Derringer, David Lee Roth and Ringo Starr, he was equally well prepared to team up with Steve Lukather.

  • The Turning Point

    John Mayall

    Year: 1968

    Runtime: 24 min

This film combines two documentaries about John Mayall, both directed by Peter Gibson. The Turning Point captures John Mayall and the Blusebreakers at a critical point in their hugely influential career. Following from the last tour by the “Laurel Canyon” line up in May 1969, Mayall made two big decisions. Firstly he was going to relocate to the USA and secondly he was going to form a new, more acoustic based line up which would not feature drums. There are interviews with both the old line up and the new and from departed members including Peter Green, John McVie and Eric Clapton as the film follows the first UK dates with the new format Bluesbreakers. The Godfather Of British Blues was made to celebrate John Mayall’s 70th birthday in autumn 2003 and was shown on BBC TV in conjunction with their broadcast of his 70th birthday concert. It traces his career of over 40 years playing the blues. This is complimented by rare archive film from all periods of his life.

Even though their original guitarist Leslie Harvey had been electrocuted during a sound check at The Swansea Ballroom in 1972 they had regrouped with JIMMY McCULLOCH playing guitar and were at a creative and performance peak when this concert was recorded in Germany during 1973.

  • Live 1990

    Ten Years After

    Year: 1990

    Runtime: 1 hr 2 min

An aural document of the reunion tour in support of ABOUT TIME (the band's first new studio album in 15 years), LIVE 1990 demonstrates that time had not dimmed Ten Years After's firepower as a live act. Actually, thanks to the wonders of technology--gated drums, synthesizers, effects pedals--they sound tougher than ever, closer in fact to Z.Z.Top than to their legendary UNDEAD album.

In any case, the band seems thoroughly energized, and the more familiar songs--the salacious "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl," FM radio favorite "Love Like a Man," and their signature ""I'm Goin' Home"--are performed with every bit as much exuberance as the newer ones. Bottom line: A treat for fans.

    Year: 2013

    Runtime: 1 hr 28 min

On Brian’s birthday, the Montreux Jazz Festival hosted the penultimate concert of Brian and Kerry’s Acoustic By Candlelight tour. It was their first appearance together at the festival. The show features a wide range of songs, from Queen classics like We Will Rock You, Love Of My Life and Crazy Little Thing Called Love to the Oscar-winning The Way We Were, as well as lesser-known gems like Dust In The Wind and Life Is Real, all of them performed beautifully by Brian and Kerry in stripped down arrangements which allow the songs shine through with unusual clarity and passion. Significantly, this was also the first live performance ever in Montreux of No-One But You, a song Brian was inspired to write in the city during the unveiling of the Freddie Mercury statue in 1996. This is Ellis and May live at their very best.

    Year: 2007

    Runtime: 1 hr 53 min

Michael John Kells "Mick" Fleetwood is best known for his role as the drummer and namesake of the blues/rock and roll band Fleetwood Mac. His surname, combined with that of John McVie, was the inspiration for the name of the originally Peter Green-led Fleetwood Mac. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for his work in Fleetwood Mac.

Aside from his work as a drummer, he also helped form the different incarnations of his band Fleetwood Mac, and is the sole member to stay with the band through its ever-changing lineup. In 1974, he met and invited Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham and Nicks contributed to much of Fleetwood Mac's later commercial success, while Fleetwood's determination to keep the band together was essential to the group's longevity.
