  • Chicago Live at Soundstage

    Chicago

    Year: 2002

    Runtime: 54 min

One of the most loved bands in rock history, as well as one of the most commercially successful-with 50 hit songs in the U.S. alone, 18 gold records, a Grammy, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Chicago have maintained the unflagging devotion of millions of devoted fans throughout their 37-year career. It began with the goal of incorporating the diverse musical range of their hometown Chicago, and incorporating the big-band aesthetic that included horns which had been virtually left behind in the world of rock and roll, Chicago went on to create a sound that remains unparalleled in rock music. Incorporating rock as only one genre among the many that they drew from, the band courageously rejected the trappings of celebrity in order for the music to stand on its own. This program documents a live show that was broadcast on PBS in June of 2003 where they play many of their hits from throughout their long career, including "25 or Six to Four," "You're the Inspiration," "Saturday in the Park," and "Beginnings," among many others.

  • Live at Great Woods

    The Allman Brothers Band

    Year: 1991

    Runtime: 1 hr 31 min

Recorded in September of 1991, originally for Japanese TV, The Allman Brothers Band’s beloved Live At Great Woods showcases the classic American rock band reaching a new generation of audiences. Original band members Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe were joined by new guitarist Warren Haynes, bassist Allen Woody and percussionist Marc Quiñones in one of the most powerful lineups in the group’s history. This set – recorded before a crowd of nearly 20,000 adoring fans at the Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts in Massachusetts – features a top-notch set of fan favorites, with a fiery acoustic mini-set included for good measure. This release of Live At Great Woods fills a crucial gap in The Allman Brothers Band’s videography: after years of demand, fans can experience the original longform video version of this concert (previously only available on VHS and LaserDisc), with no interruption of the main feature. Finally, fans have nothing standing between them and the top-notch performances of this set.

    Various Artists

    Year: 2011

    Runtime: 1 hr 31 min

In the wake of the turbulent 1960s, a new style of song and songwriter came to the fore -- a style marked by vulnerable introspection and raw, naked emotion. Backed by little more than a lone acoustic guitar or simple piano, these exciting voices descended upon Los Angeles, the emerging epicenter of the American music scene, and the Troubadour, the famed West Hollywood club that nurtured this community of gifted young artists -- and blossoming critical, commercial sensations. Interweaving the intriguing story of the club that cemented their musical legacy, TROUBADOURS is a first-hand account of the genesis of the singer-songwriter movement, centering on the historic collaboration between Carole King and James Taylor, as well as on Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, the Eagles, Elton John, and many others.
