A salute from the Maestro, André Rieu opens 2013's Maastricht summer show. The legendary concert held in his hometown of Maastricht is a real treat: guests from around the world like Jermaine Jackson, Trini Lopez and Argentinian tango virtuoso Carlos Buono create a truly colourful and international evening for the thousands of fans in the city’s historic square. Jermaine Jackson creates a very special moment for the 12,000 strong audience when he performs Charlie Chaplin’s song “Smile”, just as he did at his brother Michael’s funeral service. During the encores, he performs the 1984 hit “When The Rain Begins To Fall”, but this did not hold true for the weather. On that evening, Maastricht experienced an almost subtropical evening, and a night to remember in many ways.
